Do you know where you will go when you die?
Have you ever wondered how you can get to heaven?
You’re not alone. God wants you to know—with confidence—how to be saved and live with Him forever. Below is a simple, Bible-based path often called the Romans Road, plus other key scriptures, a prayer you can pray, and practical next steps.
All have sinned (missed God’s perfect standard). Romans 3:23
Sin brings death—spiritual separation from God. Romans 6:23a
Christ died for you while you were still a sinner. Romans 5:8
The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ. Romans 6:23b
Salvation comes by confessing and believing: “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9–10; 10:13
Jesus is the only way: John 14:6; Acts 4:12
Saved by grace through faith, not works: Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5
Assurance of salvation: 1 John 5:11–13; John 10:28–29; Romans 8:1, 38–39
The Bible’s call is repent and believe—turn from sin and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God who died for my sins and rose again.
I confess I am a sinner and I turn from my old ways.
I receive Your forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.
I declare You are my Lord and I choose to follow You.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me every day.
In Your name, Jesus—amen.
(The prayer is a response to faith—Jesus saves you, not the words themselves.)
If you truly trusted Christ:
You are forgiven and made new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
You’ve been adopted into God’s family. John 1:12; Romans 8:15–16
You have eternal life. John 3:16; 1 John 5:11–13

Be baptized. It’s your public declaration that you now belong to Jesus. Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3–4
Join a Bible-believing church family. You were made to grow with others. Hebrews 10:24–25
Start a simple rhythm (15–20 minutes/day):
Pray with the A.C.T.S. pattern: Adoration (who God is), Confession (be honest), Thanksgiving (be grateful), Supplication (ask boldly).
Read the Bible (see plan below).
Journal one thing God is showing you and one step you’ll take today.
Start with a clear view of Jesus, then move to practical living and deep gospel foundations.
1) John (21 chapters) – Meet Jesus: His life, love, and mission.
2) James (5 chapters) – Put faith into action (everyday discipleship).
3) Romans (16 chapters) – Understand salvation, grace, and the Spirit-led life.
Then continue: Mark → Ephesians → 1 John → Psalms & Proverbs (a Psalm and a few Proverbs daily).
Reading tip: Before you read, pray: “Holy Spirit, open my eyes. Show me Jesus and how to obey You today.” Note a truth to believe, a sin to avoid, a promise to trust, and a step to take.
“I prayed when I was young but drifted. Can I be sure?”
Yes. Come home to Jesus. He receives those who return to Him. Luke 15; 1 John 1:9; Romans 8:1
“Do good works get me to heaven?”
No. We are saved by grace through faith, and good works follow as the fruit of salvation. Ephesians 2:8–10
“Why baptism?”
Baptism doesn’t save you; Jesus does. Baptism is your public identification with His death, burial, and resurrection—your “I belong to Jesus” moment. Romans 6:3–4
